gerry and jamie andersoncrop

Jamie is the son of the late Thunderbirds creator, Gerry Anderson and said this of his appointment

‘I’m immensely proud to be carrying on the good work, and helping promote an organisation that stands for all the good things that were constant elements in Gerry Anderson shows, and look forward to doing what I can to help IRC in my new role.’

IRCs Corps Director, Willie McMartin said

‘The corps has been in existence since 1981 and we will forever be indebted to Gerry Anderson all those years ago. Gerry was instrumental in getting IRC off the ground and without this help we wouldn’t have been able to continue to save lives. It is great news that Jamie is happy to support the corps and we look forward to working with him in the forthcoming years.’

International Rescue Corps was formed in 1981 following the Italian earthquake and in the same year Gerry Anderson was appointed Honorary President of the International Rescue Corps, a post he held for eleven years.

International Rescue Corps teams have travelled across the UK and the world to assist with rescue at scenes of a wide range of disasters such as floods and earthquakes.
The wide range of incidents and countries attended may be seen on our website.
